Scraping the Bottom of the Barrel

While perhaps not in the same category of the kind of screwups Jeremy lambastes their film division for, I think it is clear that Rupert Murdoch's FOX has, at this moment, reached an absolute and all-time low water mark for television in this country. Yes, lower than all of your WHO WANTS TO MARRY A MULTI-MILLIONAIREs and TEMPTATION ISLANDs and THE SWANs put together and multiplied a thousanfold:
On Monday, Nov. 27 and Wednesday, Nov. 29, O.J. Simpson, acquitted murderer and NFL Hall-of-Famer, will star in a two-part FOX special sensitively titled "O.J. Simpson: If I Did It, Here's How It Happened."

...Publisher Judith Regan and Simpson will have a no-holds-barred interview in which he, among other things, "tells for the first time how he would have committed the murders if he were the one responsible for the crimes."

"This is an interview that no one thought would ever happen," says FOX's reality programming guru Mike Darnell. "It's the definitive last chapter in the Trial of the Century."

...

I feel dirty just having read that. And so should you. More here.

Vote Early and Often

Grapplers

This might be the funniest thing you will see today. It was produced by a sitting United States Senator. Given the particular candidate, what's wrong with this picture?

You make the call.

Cloud of Ideas

Here's a nifty little thing.

It's a "tag cloud", as the hep kids call them these days, that "shows the popularity, frequency, and trends in the usages of words within speeches, official documents, declarations, and letters written by the Presidents of the US between 1776 - 2006." The bigger the size of the word as it appears in the cloud, the more often it was used and the more emphasis was placed on it. Move the little slider at the top back and forth on the timeline and see what words pop out for the different presidents, and even how those decisions changed within the term of that president's service.
